Celebrating Successes

I love this time of the year because it is ‘awards’ season.  Over the last six weeks I’ve had the opportunity to attend a number of client awards evenings and it is always fabulous to see happy people in great businesses celebrating good things….

And of course we have our very own Waipa Business Awards evening coming up on 31 July 2015 at Mystery Creek.  What a great night this always is and a wonderful opportunity to see the success that we can achieve in rural New Zealand.

Young Farmer of the Year Competition 2015

It was our great pleasure recently to judge the HR component of the Young Farmer of the Year Competition in Taupo.  These outstanding young farmers get put through their paces across a range of agricultural activities and we take our hats off to them.

This year’s winner was Matt Bell from Temuka and he was chased all the way to the line by Sully Alsop of Masterton with the winner only decided on a count back….amazing to have such a close finish and great for us to see the talent coming through in rural New Zealand.

Employee of the Month

And in our own small way we like to celebrate success every month with our People4Success employee and people manager of the month awards.

This months Employee of the Month is Jo Kettle from Spectrum Group Services.  Jo has been nominated by Business Manager, Shona Quinlan, who said that Jo has been a valuable member of the Spectrum team since 2012.  Jo is the accountant for the business and looks after the accounts for eight dairy farms and their associated parent company entities.

Mrs Quinlan said that Jo is always diligent and client focused.   ’She joined the business from an accounting practice and continually shows how a helpful and efficient accountant can add real value to a business.’

'She is clever, has implemented new systems for the business and always delivers on time.’

Congratulations Jo…….

This months People Manager of the Month winner is Katherine Mereweather from Design on Q. Katherine was nominated by Chelsea who said Kat is such an incredible person to work for. I have been working at Design On Q for only seven months but from day one I have felt so welcome and a part of the team. It's been very clear that Kat is very loyal to all that have the pleasure of knowing her and working with her. Kat is multi-talented and also very hard working.

Congratulations Kat.

If you would like to nominate someone for the Employee or People Manager of the Month award go to our website and complete a nomination form.

Success and Change

It was Charles Darwin who said that ‘those who survive are the ones who most accurately perceive their environment and successfully adapt for it.’

I thought that might be a good place to end this newsletter about success, because success is not a static thing, it is an ongoing endeavour based on continually looking ahead and adapting to the changing world around us….food for thought whatever our role in life and business.
