Based in Te Awamutu, Waipa Networks owns and operates the electricity network that delivers power to more than 27,000 customers.  We are now looking for a dynamic Design Planner to join our progressive and growing team.


And even though we’re small, there are BIG things happening in our world, which means that keeping our network in top shape is critical for our future.  


 In this role you can expect to prepare work packages for 11kV and LV network alterations and extensions including surveys and easements, detailed design, materials and cost schedules and arranging for the order of non-stock items. In addition you will also be reviewing, optimising and preparing work packages for network defects originating out of pole top imagery and on-going asset surveys and prioritising and budgeting of network maintenance projects and contributing to inspection programs. To facilitate your role you will be collaborating with our professional planning team, improving designs and maintaining engineering records. 


To be successful in this role you’ll be:

  • a qualified electrical inspector, electrician or line mechanic, ideally with five years’ experience in the distribution industry; 
  • able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures and understand the distribution environment;
  • experienced in using CAD, GIS, CATAN and Microsoft office, as well as line design and experience in AS/NZS 7000. 
  • a great organiser and will have experience applying for and gaining consents as well as generating good materials lists.
