Based in Te Awamutu, Waipa Networks owns and operates the electricity network that delivers power to more than 27,000 customers.  Due to an internal career change, we are now looking for another dynamic Network Planner to join our progressive and growing team.


And even though we’re small, there are BIG things happening in our world, which means that keeping our network in top shape is critical for our future.  


You can be expect to be involved in surveying and design of new or altered 11kV and LV network extensions, preparing of work packages, materials and cost schedules.


In addition, you will be developing, analysing and optimising network defects originating out of pole top imagery. You will be involved in prioritising and budgeting of network maintenance projects and contributing to the wood pole assessment and inspection program. You’ll be collaborating with our professional planning team, improving designs and maintaining engineering records. 


To be successful you’ll be a qualified electrical inspector, electrician or line mechanic, ideally with five years’ experience in the distribution industry.  You’ll have a sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures and understand the distribution environment.


Experience in using CAD, GIS, CATAN and Microsoft office, as well as line design and experience in AS/NZS 7000. And as importantly you’ll be a great organiser and will have experience applying for and gaining consents as well as generating good materials liststs.
