Waipa Networks is owned by, and works for, their customers.  We make sure the electricity gets from where it’s generated to the front door of every customer in the Waipa District.  We’re the oldest electricity supply business in New Zealand and proud of it. 

We have a vacancy in our operations team for a role that comes with competitive remuneration package including medical insurance. You'll be joining a progressive, caring team where your work will be recognised and you'll be so much more than a number. 

Based in Te Awamutu, Waipa Networks is centrally located in the mighty Waikato with city and country lifestyle opportunities, great schooling and a choice of great communities literally on our doorstep.   

To be be a line mechanic with our team you’ll need to tick all (or at least most!) of these boxes:

  • EWRB Distribution Line Mechanic registration and a current practising licence; or working towards the same.
  • Experienced in O/H line work up to 33kV.
  • Experience of plant used to construct O/H lines  
  • Experience in underground subdivision work.
  • Prepared to work overtime as and when required in faults and new connection work, share the load.
  • A total commitment to producing high quality work and the paperwork required in the field
  • Work safely at all times, looking after yourself, your team and the wider community
  • Hold a minimum of a Class 1 Drivers Licence (Class 2 or 4 is desirable)
