Senior Customer Connections Designer

Salary: Negotiable
Location: Te Awamutu
Duration: Permanent - Full Time
Start Date: ASAP

Step Up....Step Out....Step Ahead....

The Waipa District is growing which means we’re putting more connections onto our network than ever before.  And there’s no doubt about it, our customer connections team is under pressure and that’s why we’re looking for a Senior team member to join the team, taking on workflow management and allocation as well as providing additional resource to support the increased connections workload.

When we talk about Stepping Up we’re talking about helping the Waipa Networks team step up and meet their customer’s needs.  As an essential service we need to get people connected and we need to make sure that our customers get what they need when they need it.

Stepping Out means being where the action is.  You need to be prepared to be out of the office, liaising with customers, speaking with developers and ensuring our designs match the customers needs as well as being efficient and productive behind the computer screen.

And Stepping Ahead is about getting ahead with your career.  This senior role opens the doors on a career pathway not just into a design role, but also into the opportunity to start your leadership journey in a business that is keen to grow and nurture talent.

To be able to step into this job and deliver we know you’ll need to already be a qualified Line Mechanic, Electrician or have relevant tertiary electrical supply qualifications.  You’ll have worked in or close to the electricity distribution industry for at least five years and will have a sound knowledge of engineering standards, regulations and procedures as they apply to electrical distribution.

But more than anything, working with, supporting and co-ordinating the work of two other customer connections designers is where you’ll really add value to the business.  So you’ll need to be able to talk the talk (ADMD, Volt Drop, Load Flow) along with having good natural leadership skills and a dexterity around IT systems and work allocation processes.  As well as your own workload you can expect to be reviewing designs and dealing with the ‘complex jobs’ (think multi lot, large developments and complex design).  For this to work well and be of real value your approach with the team will be focused on sharing and growing knowledge, learning from each other and increasing efficiency and skills.

And needless to say, this role involves a large amount of customer liaison…you’ll be a key relationship manager fronting commercial discussions and you’ll be the ‘go to’ person to help with complex customer requirements or concerns.  Some coal face customer experience in your professional career and a healthy dose of empathy

So come be part of the Waipa Success story…with over 100 years of service to the community, a great reputation, and the reassurance of essential business status, this is your chance to make more from what you’ve got.
