Waipa Networks owns and operates the electricity network that delivers power to 27,800 customers across the Waipa area.  Based in Te Awamutu, the business is owned by the Waipa Networks Trust for the benefit of its customers and is responsible for providing outstanding services and value for money. 

 

As a Faultperson you will be joining a professional team where the focus is on making sure your customers have power 24/7, 365 days a year; and, when there isn’t a crisis, you’ll be helping maintain the network or on construction jobs that ultimately help new customers and new businesses ‘get connected.’

 

To be eligible you’ll already have a current EST or practicing electrician licence or a EWRB Line Mechanic practicing licence.  So much the better if you’ve also got your HT licence.

 

About the Role

Our Faults team are our first responders.   Regardless of what time of the day or night, you’ll be called on to attend to customer issues and outages, assessing situations and making the best calls on how to proceed.  You’ll work on a roster which includes weekend and evening call out availability and you’ll get involved with, literally anything and everything.  As well as fault response, key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Network switching
  • Retail work
  • Safety disconnects and reconnects
  • Earth testing and repairs
  • Assist our technician with workshop duties
  • Cable locations
  • Network Maintenance
  • Network and customer voltage testing

 

Our ideal candidate for this role is physically and mentally fit, has the flexiblilty to meet a minimum of a one in three week roster requirements, preferably lives locally, and brings the level of maturity required to work both on their own and within a professional and dedicated team.
